Day 1
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Dear guests, this is your first day in Athens. You already had a hard day in the international airports. Today, you are free to enjoy the historic center of the Greek capital. You can have some creative time by walking between ancient Greek monuments in the mansion pederstrian street of Dionysiou Areopagitou or have some fun without fatigue in a traditional tavern of the city center or even enjoy a glass of wine while listening good music in a cozy bar of the old town. We want you to relax and enjoy your first acquaintance with our city. Athens is an alternative, charming and unexpected European capital, which looks like no other. It combines the old with the new, the history with the modern life, the amazing ancient monuments with the joyful nightlife. This first day just feel the city; you don't need to know anything! Tomorrow you will learn, what makes this city so great and unique all over the world. FIRST OVERNIGHT STAY IN ATHENS.
Day 2
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Today we enjoy together a beautiful stroll by foot in the old town of Athens. Starting from the Syntagma Square, we see the House of the Greek Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. We continue through Ermou, the central commercial pedestrian street of Athens, down to the Monastiraki and Thiseio. Afterwards, we visit the scenic Plaka, the oldest Athenian neighborhood! After tasting a delicious koulouri, the Greek bun flavored with roasted sesame, it's time to marvel at all the ancient masterpieces of the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis from up close. Our official Acropolis guide is waiting for you. You visit together the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the beautiful Caryatids and finally the Parthenon, the masterpiece of the classical perfection, the monument that "puts mind in order", as the Greek philosophers have told. After the Acropolis tour, we leave you. It's time for you to enjoy a magnificent Greek light meal, visit the unique in the world Acropolis Museum or go for shopping in the beautiful small shops of Plaka. The evening is free to enjoy the historic city center. As the night falls this part of Athens, which is very dear to young people, becomes more and more joyful and alive. Enjoy an idyllic walk, passing through the mansion pederstrian street of D. Areopagitou, between the Hill of the Nymphs, the Hill of Pnyx and the Acropolis Hill. This walk will be to you unforgettable, as at that hour all the Athenian monuments are enlightened under the night sky of Attica. Afterwards you can enjoy delicious traditional dishes of the Greek cuisine in a high-standard Athenian restaurant. We are here to offer you amazing suggestions about your dinner. Day 3
ATHENS - CORINTH CANAL - ANCIENT MESSINA - KALAMATA: We depart from Athens in the morning. After a short stop at the famous Corinth Canal, we continue for the magnificent archaeological site of Ancient Messina, one of the best preserved cities of the ancient world. Here, walking amongst the ruins of the past, we visit the Stadium and Gymnasium, surrounded by Doric Stoas, which are amongst the most impressive and well preserved buildings on the site and the ancient Theater, an exceptional building which is predictive of the theaters and amphitheaters of the Roman period. Our next destination is the cosmopolitan city of Kalamata, the beautiful port of Messinia. We arrive at our seaside hotel. The rest of the day is yours. In the evening taste a delicious souvlaki in the city center. Here, Jimmy makes the most famous souvlaki of Kalamata; a handmade souvlaki with unique delicacy, parties every day, loud music, cheerfulness and cosmicity. Day 4
KALAMATA - NEDA RIVER - KYPARISSIA - KALAMATA: This morning we are going to visit Neda, the Greece’s only ‘female’ river. The river has sculpted the beautiful landscape between the peaks of Mt Tetrazio to Kyparissia Bay. From its source on Mount Lykaion, the river meanders through steep ravines, cool plateaus, lush gorges and dark caves, passing under stone bridges and cascading over cliffs to reach the sea 32km away. Early in the afternoon, leaving behind the protected nature of Neda we visit the beautiful town of Kyparissia; here in the Upper Town, by its castle entrance, known as the Castle of Arcadia, we enjoy a delicious meal in a famous local restaurant. The view from up here is fantastic with the city and the bay spreading under our feet. We return to Kalamata full of great impressions. SECOND OVERNIGHT STAY IN KALAMATA. NOTE: The daily excursion to the river of Neda is optional and it is not included in the price. If you do not want to participate, you can stay in Kalamata and enjoy a relaxing day by swiming in the crystal waters of the sea in front of the hotel, or walking next to the amazing coasts of the Messenian Gulf or even wandering within the streets of the vibrant city discovering more of its secrets.
Day 5
KALAMATA - ANDROUSA - KALAMATA: In the morning, after enjoying a mini tour of the Old City and the Castle, we continue with a visit to the Kalograion Monastery, renowned for its famous silk handkerchief of Kalamata. However, Kalamata is the kingdom of olive oil as well. In this blessed land the history, the soul, the tradition, the gastronomy of Messinia are revealed though the olive oil paths. It's time for us to learn more about the olive oil world! We will follow our friend Dimitra to a guided olive oil tour, that starts with a visit at the magnificent 13th century castle of Androusa, passes through her olive grove, continue with the olive oil mill visit, and ends up with a revealing olive oil tasting seminar accompanied with small gourmet olive oil dishes. We return to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours. Kalamata is a beautiful shopping center. Here you can buy delicious local products, the famous virgin olive oil of Kalamata, olives and pasta, petimezi and dried figs. On your way, don't forget to taste the exquisite pastelli with local honey, soft or crisp, organic, with sesame, almond or mixed nuts. THIRD OVERNIGHT STAY IN KALAMATA.
Day 6
KALAMATA - KORONI - METHONI - PYLOS - GIALOVA - VOIDOKILIA - KALAMATA: Today we enjoy an one day tour in the beautiful region of Messinia. This serene part of the Peloponnesian land, being full of olive trees, embraces the blue waters of the sea. We start our tour with the small town of Koroni, which is nestled on a hill below its impressive venetian castle and reaches the edge of the gulf. We continue with Methoni and its historical castle, which Homer mentioned under the name “ampeloessa” (city with many vine leaves). The picturesque town of Pylos comes next. We continue with the Gialova wetland, a blessing of nature, which has been classified as one of the most important bird areas in Europe. Then we visit Voidokilia, the famous beach in the shape of the Greek letter omega (Ω). During our tour, we will have the time to take unforgettable pictures of all these dreamy landscapes and to taste Greek appetizers with ouzo accompaniment, favorite habit of Greek people on summer. We return to the hotel. FOURTH OVERNIGHT STAY IN KALAMATA.
Day 7
KALAMATA - AGIOS NIKOLAOS - KARDAMILI - KALAMATA: Today we visit the exquisite Messinian Mani by following the scenic coastline of the Messinian Bay. This part of Messinia is a scenic and full of surprises region, which offers breathtaking view to the sea and the Taygetus mountain. This amazing land will welcome you with its beautiful colors and fragrances, its wild flowers and herbs, at any time of the year. On our tour, we will enjoy a cup of Greek coffee at the picturesque little harbor of Agios Nikolaos, which nowadays serves as a fish ladder and a moorage for small fishing boats. Continuing, we will visit the Old Kardamili, which is a traditional village of glorious history. Inside the historic settlement we visit the tower of Mourtzinou and the byzantine church of Agios Spyridon. We return to Kalamata. FIFTH OVERNIGHT STAY IN KALAMATA.
