Day 1
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Dear guests, this is your first day in Athens. You already had a hard day in the international airports. Today, you are free to enjoy the historic center of the Greek capital. You can have some creative time by walking between ancient Greek monuments in the mansion pederstrian street of Dionysiou Areopagitou or have some fun without fatigue in a traditional tavern of the city center or even enjoy a glass of wine while listening good music in a cozy bar of the old town. We want you to relax and enjoy your first acquaintance with our city. Athens is an alternative, charming and unexpected European capital, which looks like no other. It combines the old with the new, the history with the modern life, the amazing ancient monuments with the joyful nightlife. This first day just feel the city; you don't need to know anything! Tomorrow you will learn, what makes this city so great and unique all over the world. FIRST OVERNIGHT STAY IN ATHENS.
Day 2
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Today we enjoy together a beautiful stroll by foot in the old town of Athens. Starting from the Syntagma Square, we see the House of the Greek Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. We continue through Ermou, the central commercial pedestrian street of Athens, down to the Monastiraki and Thiseio. Afterwards, we visit the scenic Plaka, the oldest Athenian neighborhood! After tasting a delicious koulouri, the Greek bun flavored with roasted sesame, it's time to marvel at all the ancient masterpieces of the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis from up close. Our official Acropolis guide is waiting for you. You visit together the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the beautiful Caryatids and finally the Parthenon, the masterpiece of the classical perfection, the monument that "puts mind in order", as the Greek philosophers have told. After the Acropolis tour, we leave you. It's time for you to enjoy a magnificent Greek light meal, visit the unique in the world Acropolis Museum or go for shopping in the beautiful small shops of Plaka. The evening is free to enjoy the historic city center. As the night falls this part of Athens, which is very dear to young people, becomes more and more joyful and alive. Enjoy an idyllic walk, passing through the mansion pederstrian street of D. Areopagitou, between the Hill of the Nymphs, the Hill of Pnyx and the Acropolis Hill. This walk will be to you unforgettable, as at that hour all the Athenian monuments are enlightened under the night sky of Attica. Afterwards you can enjoy delicious traditional dishes of the Greek cuisine in a high-standard Athenian restaurant. We are here to offer you amazing suggestions about your dinner. Day 3
ATHENS - SPARTI - MYSTRAS - GYTHEIO: In the morning, we leave Athens. It's time to enjoy a drive by car to Sparti, passing through the beautiful Peloponnesian land. Sparti is a historic city, well known from the king Leonidas and his 300 brave wariers. On our way to Laconia we make a short stop at the famous Corinth Canal. We continue to Sparti and immediately after to Mystras, which is situated on the slopes of the imposing mountain Taygetos. Walking through this Byzantine fortified town, you will embark on a unique journey back in history. As the town stands today, uninhabited and deserted, it offers its visitors a unique cultural experience. After Mystras we enjoy a light meal at a beautiful restaurant of the area, which affords a magnificent panoramic view of Sparti. We to depart for the scenic town of Gytheio, which is an ideal destination for summer holidays and relaxation. Gytheio is characterized by its small dock, the neoclassical houses standing on the slope of the Akoumaro Mountain and the graphical narrow streets between the buildings. We arrive at the hotel, which is situated in front of the sea. Early in the evening, we will experience a delicious dinner at an exquisite seafood restaurant of Gytheio, whose little harbor resembles an island. We return to the hotel. Day 4
GYTHEIO - MONEMVASIA - GYTHEIO: Day dedicated to the medieval castle-town of Monemvasia, which is carved on the back side of a sea rock on the southeastern edge of Laconia. Here we walk through the Lower town and its stone wall and marvel at the old mansions of the Upper town. Agia Sophia, one of the oldest Byzantine churches in Greece, is situated on a steep slope over the sea and it is simply breath-taking. On our way back to Gytheio we will experience an unforgettable wine tasting in the Monemvasia Winery. The sweet white Malvasia wine became the most famous wine almost globally in the late Middle Ages and for around five centuries. The vineyard of the winery is planted with native varieties, in an area with an interesting topography, soil and subsoil diversity, a lot of winds and a neighboring sea. These are factors that benefit the grapes used by Monemvasia Winery for the production of wines that rightly win many international awards and distinctions. We return to Gytheio. The rest of the day is yours. SECOND OVERNIGHT STAY IN GYTHEIO.
Day 5
GYTHEIO - ISLAND OF ELAFONISOS - GYTHEIO: Today we visit Elafonisos, one of the least known of the Greek islands, which is located in the Laconic Gulf. This small island is surrounded by the most beautiful turquoise seas and has some of the finest and longest sandy beaches in Greece. In ancient times, the island was a peninsula and the sandy isthmus which separates it from the Peloponesse is only a few feet underwater, which is why the sea has the remarkably alluring color that makes you want to leap off the ferry boat on the 10 minute journey there. Arriving at Elafonisos, a swim in the crystal waters of Simos beach is necessary! Simos may be the best beach in Greece, with soft white sand and clean blue water. All the beaches on the island offer a tropical feeling to visitors. In the afternnon we return to Gytheio. Reaching the scenic town, the rest of the day is yours. THIRD OVERNIGHT STAY IN GYTHEIO.
Day 6
GYTHEIO - PORTO KAGIO - CAPE TAINARO - VATHEIA - LIMENI - AREOPOLIS: Day dediccated to the wild landscape of Deep Mani. First stop is the fishing village of Porto Kagio, followed by Cape Tainaron, which is the southernmost point of mainland Greece and the second southernmost point in mainland Europe. Here was, and still is, a cave that Greek myths claim was the home of Hades. The deserted Vatheia comes next. On this tour, a visit to the Diros Caves, one of the most awe-inspiring caves in the world, is necessary. Our final destination is the traditional town of Areopolis, which is the capital of the region. Areopolis is a well preserved historical town with stone paths and traditional tower houses. We arrive at the hotel. In the afternoon, what better than a visit to the picturesque coastal village of Limeni. Limeni is one of the most beautiful and traditional coastal villages of Mani, combining harmoniously the sea and the unique landscape of Laconia. We return to Areopolis. Day 7
AREOPOLIS - AGIOS NIKOLAOS - KARDAMILI - AREOPOLIS: Today we will visit the Messinian Mani by following the scenic coastline of the Messinian Bay. Messinian Mani, a scenic and full of surprises region, offers breathtaking view to the sea and the Taygetus mountain. This amazing land will welcome you with its beautiful colors and fragrances, its wild flowers and herbs, at any time of the year. Today we are going to visit amazing coastal villages, such as Agios Nikolaos and Kardamili. Agios Nikolaos nowadays serves as a fish ladder and a moorage for small fishing boats. Reaching Kardamili, a wonderful historic village, we will admire overgrown mountain sides, olive groves, well cared stone mansions of traditional architecture of Mani, verdant gardens and the lovely small port. Old Kardamili is a village of glorious history. Inside the historic settlement we are going to visit the tower of Mourtzinou and the Byzantine church of Agios Spyridonas. It's time us to return to Areopolis. The last night in Areopolis is all yours! SECOND OVERNIGHT STAY IN AREOPOLIS.
Day 8
