Day 1
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Dear guests, this is your first day in Athens. You already had a hard day in the international airports. Today, you are free to enjoy the historic center of the Greek capital. You can have some creative time by walking between ancient Greek monuments in the mansion pederstrian street of Dionysiou Areopagitou or have some fun without fatigue in a traditional tavern of the city center or even enjoy a glass of wine while listening good music in a cozy bar of the old town. We want you to relax and enjoy your first acquaintance with our city. Athens is an alternative, charming and unexpected European capital, which looks like no other. It combines the old with the new, the history with the modern life, the amazing ancient monuments with the joyful nightlife. This first day just feel the city; you don't need to know anything! Tomorrow you will learn, what makes this city so great and unique all over the world. FIRST OVERNIGHT STAY IN ATHENS.
Day 2
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: The day is dedicated to ancient history lovers. After breakfast you are free to take a beautiful stroll by foot in the old town of Athens, to enjoy shopping in the city center, to taste the famous Greek coffee and our delicious traditional dishes and sweets, to meet and talk with interesting Greek people during your walk realizing how warm and friendly they are. You can start your walk from the Syntagma Square, where you will see the House of the Greek Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. Continuing through Ermou, the central commercial pedestrian street of Athens, you can walk down to the Monastiraki and Thiseio. Afterwards, ou can visit the scenic Plaka, the oldest Athenian neighborhood! After tasting a delicious light meal in the narrow paths of Plaka, it's time you to marvel at all the ancient masterpieces of the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis from up close. Our official Acropolis guide is waiting for you. You visit together the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the beautiful Caryatids and finally the Parthenon, the masterpiece of the classical perfection, the monument that "puts mind in order", as the Greek philosophers have told.After the Acropolis tour, we leave you. It's time for you to visit the unique in the world Acropolis Museum or go for shopping in the beautiful small shops of the area. The evening is free to enjoy the historic city center. As the night falls this part of Athens, which is very dear to young people, becomes more and more joyful and alive. Enjoy an idyllic walk, passing through the mansion pederstrian street of D. Areopagitou, between the Hill of the Nymphs, the Hill of Pnyx and the Acropolis Hill. This walk will be to you unforgettable, as at that hour all the Athenian monuments are enlightened under the night sky of Attica. Afterwards you can enjoy delicious traditional dishes of the Greek cuisine in a high-standard Athenian restaurant. We are here to offer you amazing suggestions about your dinner. Day 3
ATHENS - CORINTH CANAL - DIAKOFTO - KALAVRITA: Day dedicated to country lovers. We depart from Athens in the morning. After a short stop at the famous Corinth Canal, you continue for the mountainous Achaia and the picturesque town of Kalavrita. From the coastal village of Diakofto, we take the famous Odontotos rack train, which goes up to Kalavrita crossing the Vouraikos gorge. After an one hour trip through a wild landscape, old stone bridges, tortoise waters and waterfalls, we reach Kalavrita, which are situated under the shadow of Helmos Mountain. Getting out of the station, we will treat you to a delicious cheese pie cooked with the famous local feta cheese and butter. We drive to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours. Walk in the beautiful pedestrian streets of the mountainous town, buy honey, herbs and homemade jams, relax in a traditional coffee shop, enjoy local dishes made with the traditional high quality products of the area. Day 4
KALAVRITA - CAVE OF THE LAKES - PLANITERO - ANCIENT OLYMPIA: This day is dedicated to hiking lovers. In the morning we head towards Ancient Olympia. We start with a visit to the amazing Cave of the Lakes. The cave is an old subterranean river consisting of three levels. During the winter when the snow melts it is transformed into a flowing river with waterfalls. During the summer, it dries up, leaving behind 13 lakes. We continue to the mountain village of Planitero, an area of rare beauty as the huge forest of plane trees covering the whole area is rarely a source of oxygen and dense vegetation remains as God created it! The view and the landscapes created by plane trees and the Aroanios River will give you unforgettable moments. Here the restaurants with spectacular views allows all visitors to taste the famous trout or sturgeons (from this fish produced the best caviar) that breed in the area. It's time for us to continue. Our last destination is Ancient Olympia, the holy place where the Olympic Games took place. Reaching the famous village we drive to our hotel, which is located on the serene hills of the Olympian land. We enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant. OVERNIGHT STAY IN ANCIENT OLYMPIA.
Day 5
ANCIENT OLYMPIA - KALAMATA: Day dedicated to sports enthusiasts. Ιn the morning we visit the archaeological site. Here we marvel at the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium, the spot where the torch of the modern Olympic Games is lit and the Archaeological Museum. A local honey farm comes next. Here, through the presentation of beekeeping tools, you will be introduced to the life of bees from ancient times until today. Then, you will taste the products of the farm, all produced and packaged the old traditional homemade way, getting a “taste” of real life and of authentic people of the region, just next to the glamorous ruins. Our next destination is the cosmopolitan city of Kalamata, the beautiful port of Messinia. We arrive at our seaside hotel. The rest of the day is yours. In the evening enjoy a glass of frozen beer and taste a delicious handmade souvlaki in the city center with unique delicacy, parties every day, loud music, cheerfulness and cosmicity. Day 6
KALAMATA - ANDROUSA - KALAMATA: Day dedicated to gastronomy lovers. In the morning, after enjoying a mini tour of the Old City and the Castle, we continue with a visit to the Kalograion Monastery, renowned for its famous silk handkerchief of Kalamata. However, Kalamata is the kingdom of olive oil as well. In this blessed land the history, the soul, the tradition, the gastronomy of Messinia are revealed though the olive oil paths. It's time for us to learn more about the olive oil world! We will follow our friend Dimitra to a guided olive oil tour, that starts with a visit at the magnificent 13th century castle of Androusa, passes through her olive grove, continue with the olive oil mill visit, and ends up with a revealing olive oil tasting seminar accompanied with small gourmet olive oil dishes. We return to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours. The night life of the city awaits you after dinner; café-bars, clubs, nightclubs, winter and summer haunts, here you can find everything. Day 7
ALL DAY IN KALAMATA: Day dedicated to sea lovers. In the morning relax by the blue open sea of the Messinian Bay that lies in front of the hotel. Kalamata has a beautiful coast that offers many facilities and water sports loved especially by children and young people. The coastal Navarinou Street, where our hotel is located, is ideal for endless walks, while on the 2.5 km long beach full of beach bars, umbrellas and sunbeds, we can swim without leaving the city. In the afternoon enjoy a stroll in the Old City. Walk through the narrow streets and squares with the lively pulse of the entertainment, and reach the port and the cosmopolitan marina. Enjoy shopping in the modern pedestrian Aristomenous Street or participate in a small cruise along the coast in the bay. Kalamata is the city of bicycles, pedestrian streets and culture. Day 8
KALAMATA - ANCIENT EPIDAURUS - TOLO - NAFPLIO: This day is dedicated to art lovers. After breakfast leaving behind the cosmopolitan Kalamata, we head towards Ancient Epidaurus. Reaching the famous site, we will marvel at the ancient theater, the most elegant and the best preserved ancient theater in Greece. Here, ancient Greek plays are performed every year during the summer months within the framework of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival. Then we turn our attention to the Asclepeion, where patients would swarm from all over Ancient Greece to pray and to invoke the pity of the Gods. Our day's meal comes next in a great restaurant in Tolo. Next to the sea our friend Maria, an experienced cook, has prepared for us delicious sea food dishes of the traditional Greek cuisine. We continue to the coastal Nafplio, the first capital of Greece. Reaching our hotel, the rest of the day is yours. You can make a tour by getting on the small fun train of Nafplio or you can hop on a small boat and get to the medieval castle of Bourgi, the never sleeping guardian of the city. Your evening is free for a stroll through the picturesque cobblestone alleys of the romantic Old Town. FIRST OVERNIGHT STAY IN NAFPLIO.
Day 9
NAFPLIO - LAKE OF STYMPHALIA - NEMEA - NAFPLIO: Day dedicated to Greek Mythology and wine. In the morning we leave behind Nafplio. Our first destination is the Lake of Stymphalia in the region of Corinthia. Here, the sixth Labor of Hercules, the slaying of the Stymphalian birds, took place. The man-eating Stymphalian Birds were mechanical birds with metallic feathers created by Ares, the God of War, as his pets. With the help of the goddess Athena, he used a set of small cymbals to disrupt the birds. He then shot a great majority of them one-by-one with either his bow and arrow or a sling. The remaining birds flew off never to be heard from again. Afterwards, travelling through vines, olive trees, pine trees and cypresses we will visit Ancient Nemea. According to Greek mythology, the Nemean Lion lived in the area of Nemea and caused fear to the residents. The first Labor of Hercules was to find and kill this animal. He fought the lion with his bare hands and afterwards wore its skin ever since during his battles. Nemea and the surrounding lands are also known for their wines and especially for the famous red wine variety “Agiorgitiko”. The wines which are produced by this variety are also PDO products of Nemea. After a visit to a family winery, where we will buy Agiorgitiko wine and the famous Corinthian raisins, we will visit a high quality restaurant of the area, where we will enjoy superb dishes of the Peloponnesian cuisine and taste the famous local red wine. Day 10
Dear friends, your day of departure from our homeland has arrived! Today, leaving Nafplio, we head towards the International Airport of Athens. It's time to say goodbye. We would be glad to see you again soon..... NOTE: To this last day, we could add one more night in Athens, before you leave from our country and return back home. Please let us know, so that we do the reservation. (The additional night is not included in the price)
