Day 1
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Dear guests, this is your first day in Athens. You already had a hard day in the international airports. Today, you are free to enjoy the historic center of the Greek capital. You can have some creative time by walking between ancient Greek monuments in the mansion pederstrian street of Dionysiou Areopagitou or have some fun without fatigue in a traditional tavern of the city center or even enjoy a glass of wine while listening good music in a cozy bar of the old town. We want you to relax and enjoy your first acquaintance with our city. Athens is an alternative, charming and unexpected European capital, which looks like no other. It combines the old with the new, the history with the modern life, the amazing ancient monuments with the joyful nightlife. This first day just feel the city; you don't need to know anything! Tomorrow you will learn, what makes this city so great and unique all over the world. FIRST OVERNIGHT STAY IN ATHENS.
Day 2
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Today we enjoy together a beautiful stroll by foot in the old town of Athens. Starting from the Syntagma Square, we see the House of the Greek Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. We continue through Ermou, the central commercial pedestrian street of Athens, down to the Monastiraki and Thiseio. Afterwards, we visit the scenic Plaka, the oldest Athenian neighborhood! After tasting a delicious koulouri, the Greek bun flavored with roasted sesame, it's time to marvel at all the ancient masterpieces of the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis from up close. Our official Acropolis guide is waiting for you. You visit together the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the beautiful Caryatids and finally the Parthenon, the masterpiece of the classical perfection, the monument that "puts mind in order", as the Greek philosophers have told. After the Acropolis tour, we leave you. It's time for you to enjoy a magnificent Greek light meal, visit the unique in the world Acropolis Museum or go for shopping in the beautiful small shops of Plaka. The evening is free to enjoy the historic city center. As the night falls this part of Athens, which is very dear to young people, becomes more and more joyful and alive. Enjoy an idyllic walk, passing through the mansion pederstrian street of D. Areopagitou, between the Hill of the Nymphs, the Hill of Pnyx and the Acropolis Hill. This walk will be to you unforgettable, as at that hour all the Athenian monuments are enlightened under the night sky of Attica. Afterwards you can enjoy delicious traditional dishes of the Greek cuisine in a high-standard Athenian restaurant. We are here to offer you amazing suggestions about your dinner. Day 3
ATHENS - CORINTH CANAL - ANCIENT EPIDAURUS - NAFPLIO: We leave Athens in the morning, driving to Nafplio, the capital of the first Hellenic Republic, which is one of the most scenic towns in Greece. After a short stop at the famous Corinth Canal, we continue to the famous Epidaurus and its Ancient Theater, the most elegant and the best preserved ancient theater in Greece. Then we turn our attention to the Asclepeion, where patients used to swarm from all over Ancient Greece to pray and to invoke the pity of the Gods. We leave behind us ancient times with a magnificent Peloponnesian meal on the outskirts of Nafplio. After the meal we drive to Nafplio. Arriving at the hotel, the rest of the day is yours. Day 4
NAFPLIO - MYCENAE - KALAMATA: Our first destination today is the archaeological site of Mycenae, the kingdom of Agamemnon. The "rich in gold Mycenae", as Homer referred to the city in his Iliad, was the most important and the wealthiest center of the Late Bronze Age in Ancient Greece. Here we marvel at the Lion’s Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the Royal Tombs and finally the Archaeological Museum. We continue heading towards the beautiful region of Mantineia, where we are going to visit the stunning Capsia Cave; an impressive cavern, which was discovered in 1887 and has been listed among the top ten of Greece's most important caves. Immediatelly after we drive to our last destination, the cosmopolitan Kalamata, the capital and chief port of Messenia. On our way to the hotel we enjoy a delicious meal on the outskirts of the beautiful city. We arrive at our seaside hotel. The rest of the day is yours. Kalamata is a modern city, which has beautiful shops and offers many options for fun. FIRST OVERNIGHT STAY IN KALAMATA.
Day 5
KALAMATA - ANCIENT OLYMPIA - KALAMATA: Today we head towards Ancient Olympia, the holy place where the Olympic Games took place. Arriving at its beautiful archaeological site, we marvel at the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Prytaneion, the Philippeion, the Ancient Stadium, the spot where the torch of the modern Olympic Games is lit and the Museum. We return to modern times by visiting an agricultural art farm; here we participate in an olive oil lesson and taste a magnificent Peloponnesian lunch in a unique atmosphere! A local honey farm comes next. Here, through the presentation of beekeeping tools, you will be introduced to the life of bees from ancient times until today. Then, you will taste the products of the farm, all produced and packaged the old traditional homemade way, getting a “taste” of real life and of authentic people of the region, just next to the glamorous ruins. We return to Kalamata. The evening is yours. The beautiful coastal city is full of fun and life every night. SECOND OVERNIGHT STAY IN KALAMATA. NOTE: The daily excursion to Ancient Olympia is optional and it is not included in the price. If you do not want to participate, you can stay in Kalamata and enjoy a relaxing day by swiming in the crystal waters of the sea in front of our hotel, or walking next to the amazing coasts of the Messenian Gulf or even wandering within the vibrant streets of the cosmopolitan town, discovering more of its secrets.
Day 6
KALAMATA - MYSTRAS - SPARTI: Before leaving behind the joyful town of Kalamata, we are going to enjoy a mini tour of the Castle and the Old City and a visit to the Kalograion Monastery, renowned for its famous silk handkerchief. After the tour, we head towards Sparti. Reaching the historical city, where King Leonidas, the famous warrior of antiquity, lived, it's time for us to embark on a unique journey back in time walking through the Byzantine fortified town of Mystras. As the town stands today, uninhabited and deserted, it offers its visitors a unique cultural experience. After the unforgettable tour we will enjoy a meal at a beautiful retaurant of the area, which affords a magnificent panoramic view to the plain of Sparti. We continue to the hotel. Day 7
SPARTI - MONEMVASIA - SPARTI: Day dedicated to the medieval castle-town of Monemvasia, which is carved on the back side of a sea rock on the southeastern edge of Laconia. Here we will walk through the Lower town and its stone wall and marvel at the old mansions of the Upper town. Agia Sophia, one of the oldest Byzantine churches in Greece, is situated on a steep slope over the sea and it is simply breath-taking. An unforgettable wine tasting comes next in the Monemvasia Winery. The sweet white Malvasia wine became the most famous wine almost globally in the late Middle Ages and for around five centuries. The privately-owned vineyard of the winery is planted with native varieties, in an area with an interesting topography, soil and subsoil diversity, a lot of winds and a neighboring sea. These are factors that benefit the grapes used by Monemvasia Winery for the production of wines that rightly win many international awards and distinctions. We return to Sparti. Day 8
SPARTI - ANCIENT NEMEA - ATHENS: Today in the morning, on our way back to Athens, we continue our tour with a beautiful ride to the vineyards of Ancient Nemea. Nemea, a renowned city of Corinthia in ancient times, according to Greek mythology, is linked to the first labor of Hercules, the Nemean Lion. Reaching its serene landscape, that is full of vineyards and olive trees, we are going to visit the archaeological site, which is situaded in an ideal location, will afford us the opportunity to marvel at the Temple of Zeus, the Stadion and the Museum. Straight after, the most famous restaurant of Nemea is waiting for us; here we'll be enjoying a splendid lunch, that is dedicated to the famous Agiorgitiko red wine, that is produced only in Nemea and nowhere else. After the meal we return to Athens full of amazing experiences. LAST OVERNIGHT STAY IN ATHENS.
Day 9
Dear friends, your day of departure from our homeland has arrived! We would be glad to see you again soon.....
