Day 1
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Dear guests, this is your first day in Athens. You already had a hard day in the international airports. Today, you are free to enjoy the historic center of the Greek capital. You can have some creative time by walking between ancient Greek monuments in the mansion pederstrian street of Dionysiou Areopagitou or have some fun without fatigue in a traditional tavern of the city center or even enjoy a glass of wine while listening good music in a cozy bar of the old town. We want you to relax and enjoy your first acquaintance with our city. Athens is an alternative, charming and unexpected European capital, which looks like no other. It combines the old with the new, the history with the modern life, the amazing ancient monuments with the joyful nightlife. This first day just feel the city; you don't need to know anything! Tomorrow you will learn, what makes this city so great and unique all over the world. FIRST OVERNIGHT STAY IN ATHENS.
Day 2
ALL DAY IN ATHENS: Today we enjoy together a beautiful stroll by foot in the old town of Athens. Starting from the Syntagma Square, we see the House of the Greek Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. We continue through Ermou, the central commercial pedestrian street of Athens, down to the Monastiraki and Thiseio. Afterwards, we visit the scenic Plaka, the oldest Athenian neighborhood! After tasting a delicious koulouri, the Greek bun flavored with roasted sesame, it's time to marvel at all the ancient masterpieces of the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis from up close. Our official Acropolis guide is waiting for you. You visit together the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the beautiful Caryatids and finally the Parthenon, the masterpiece of the classical perfection, the monument that "puts mind in order", as the Greek philosophers have told. After the Acropolis tour, we leave you. It's time for you to enjoy a magnificent Greek light meal, visit the unique in the world Acropolis Museum or go for shopping in the beautiful small shops of Plaka. The evening is free to enjoy the historic city center. As the night falls this part of Athens, which is very dear to young people, becomes more and more joyful and alive. Enjoy an idyllic walk, passing through the mansion pederstrian street of D. Areopagitou, between the Hill of the Nymphs, the Hill of Pnyx and the Acropolis Hill. This walk will be to you unforgettable, as at that hour all the Athenian monuments are enlightened under the night sky of Attica. Afterwards you can enjoy delicious traditional dishes of the Greek cuisine in a high-standard Athenian restaurant. We are here to offer you amazing suggestions about your dinner. Day 3
ATHENS - DELPHI - ATHENS: Today in the morning we drive to Delphi; our route passes through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the town of Thebes, which is associated with the tragedy of King Oedipus. We arrive at Delphi, the center of the ancient world - the “Omphalos” (Navel of Earth) - whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo, the most famous oracle of the ancient world. We visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum, which contains masterpieces of the ancient Greek sculpture such as the bronze Charioteer, the famous athlete Aghias and the Sphinx. At the end of the tour, on the outskirts of Delphi, we enjoy a delicious meal. We return to Athens. In the evening you are free. Take the opportunity to feel like a Greek by tasting the famous Greek souvlaki in a small tavern of the Athenian center. THIRD OVERNIGHT STAY IN ATHENS.
Day 4
ATHENS - CORINTH CANAL - DIAKOFTO - KALAVRITA: We depart from Athens in the morning. After a short stop at the famous Corinth Canal, we continue for the mountainous Achaia and the picturesque town of Kalavrita. From the coastal village of Diakofto, we take Odontotos, the famous rack train, which goes up to Kalavrita crossing the Vouraikos gorge. After an one hour trip through a wild landscape, old stone bridges, tortoise waters and waterfalls, we reach Kalavrita, which are situated under the shadow of Helmos Mountain. Getting out of the station we will be hosted in an excellent restaurant. The owners will cook with us delicious dishes with the local high quality products of the area, which we will then taste all together, sharing an unforgettable experience. After the meal we drive to the hotel, which is located in Kalavrita. The rest of the day is yours. OVERNIGHT STAY IN KALAVRITA. Day 5
KALAVRITA - ANCIENT OLYMPIA: In the morning we head towards Ancient Olympia, the holy place where the Olympic Games took place. Reaching the famous village we visit the archaeological site. Here we marvel at the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium, the spot where the torch of the modern Olympic Games is lit and the Archaeological Museum. We return to modern times by visiting an agricultural art farm; here we participate in an olive oil lesson and taste a magnificent Peloponnesian lunch in a unique atmosphere! A local honey farm comes next. Here, through the presentation of beekeeping tools, you will be introduced to the life of bees from ancient times until today. Then, you will taste the products of the farm, all produced and packaged the old traditional homemade way, getting a “taste” of real life and of authentic people of the region, just next to the glamorous ruins. Day 6
ANCIENT OLYMPIA - ANCIENT MESSINA - KYPARISSIA - ANCIENT OLYMPIA: In the morning we head towards the state of Ancient Messina, one of the best preserved cities of the ancient world. There, walking amongst the ruins of the past, we will visit the Stadium and Gymnasium, surrounded by Doric Stoas, which are amongst the most impressive and well preserved buildings on the site, the Ancient Theater, an exceptional building which is predictive of the theaters and amphitheaters of the Roman period. After the tour, we enjoy a traditional lunch in a small village of the area. On our way back to Olympia, we visit the beautiful town of Kyparissia. We make a stop for a cup of coffee in the Upper Town, by the castle entrance, known as the Castle of Arcadia. The view from up here is fantastic with the city and the bay spreading under our feet. We return to our hotel in Ancient Olympia full of great impressions. SECOND OVERNIGHT STAY IN OLYMPIA.
Day 7
ANCIENT OLYMPIA - LANGADIA - MANTINEIA - NAFPLIO: Nafplio, one of the most scenic towns in Greece, is our destination today. Our route to the historical town passes through the mountainous Arcadia. First stop at the traditional settlement of Langadia, which is situated on a mountain slope at about 1000 meters. Langadia used to be famous in Greece mainly for its builders, who made stone-built houses all over the Peloponnese peninsula. Continuing, we visit the stunning Capsia Cave, an impressive cavern, which has been listed among the top ten of Greece's most important caves. It's time you to enjoy a unique experience in a traditional family winery in Mantineia and taste the magnificent aromatic wine of the region. We drive to our last destination, the scenic Nafplio, the capital of the first Hellenic Republic. We arrive at our hotel, which is situated in the Old Town. The rest of the day is yours. You can stroll in the narrow streets of the romantic town or taste a traditional dinner in one of its small traditional taverns. FIRST OVERNIGHT STAY IN NAFPLIO.
Day 8
NAFPLIO - ANCIENT EPIDAURUS - TOLO - NAFPLIO: In the morning we take a gorgeous route to get to Epidaurus; here we can marvel at the Ancient Theater, the most elegant and the best preserved ancient theater in Greece, where ancient Greek plays are performed every year during the summer months within the framework of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival. Then we turn our attention to the Asclepeion, where patients would swarm from all over Ancient Greece to pray and to invoke the pity of the Gods. Our day's meal comes next in a great restaurant in Tolo next to the sea. We return to Nafplio. The rest of the day is yours; you can make a tour by getting on the small fun train of Nafplio or you can hop on a small boat and get to the medieval castle of Bourgi, the never sleeping guardian of the city. Day 9
NAFPLIO - MYCENAE - ATHENS: We start the day with a visit to Palamidi, the baroque fortress to the east of Acronauplia; the fortress with the 999 steps to the top of the castle, as the locals say, commands an impressive view over the city of Nafplio and the Argolic Gulf. Immediately after we visit the archaeological site of the "rich in gold Mycenae", as Homer referred to the city in his Iliad. Mycenae, the kingdom of Agamemnon, was the most important and the wealthiest center of the Late Bronze Age in Ancient Greece. We visit the Lion’s Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the Royal Tombs and finally the Archaeological Museum. After Mycenae, on our way back to Athens, we will enjoy a traditional meal on the outskirts of Nafplio. We return to Athens full of amazing experiences. LAST OVERNIGHT STAY IN ATHENS.
Day 10
